Beal Racing Race Preview: 2016 NHRA Midwest Nationals

AutoAnything1San Diego, CA – This weekend’s NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis marks the beginning of the second half of Beal Racing’s 2016 race schedule. They are coming off of a frustrating performance at the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle, where the team struggled to control the car’s new clutch setup.

After withdrawing their U.S. Nationals entry just two weeks ago to focus on improvement, the team believes that their recent test session will pay dividends going forward.

“I believe that we learned a lot about our AutoAnything funny car in these past few weeks,” driver Brandon Welch stated. “We scheduled a test session at a local drag strip and were able to improve on some things that we don’t normally have time to work on during a race weekend.”

Although Beal Racing heads into the Midwest Nationals as their funny car competition continues to get better, Chuck Beal is hopeful. The team recently added Sean Young, an experienced clutch specialist, and spent time minimizing rebuild turn-around time between rounds. Chuck believes that the combination should help the team come race day.“Our guys have put in a lot of extra work since the Northwest Nationals,” said Chuck Beal. “I’m looking forward to racing in St. Louis and applying what we’ve learned.”

The NHRA Midwest Nationals kicks off with qualifying on Friday September 23.
